In the days of mid march 2015 I alongside my dad and a friend ‘Dani’ from Hemel travelled to Tignes in France for The BRITS, one of the biggest competitions for British snow sport athletes. I had an amazing time meeting up with loads of my mates, who live too far away to see each week, during and after competitions.
In total throughout the 4 events I came away with a total of 6 medals! One in every category I was entered in! The first competition was the Bangers and Cash Rail Jam. As it was the start of the run of contests I was hoping to start on a high (which I did). After the almost 3 hours of hiking and hitting every feature I could pulling out all of my tricks I had been learning over the winter, I came away with a gold medal and a smile on my face.
Day 2 consisted of a lot of sun and some racing in Boardercross. Now I haven’t had too much experience with Boardercross however I do have the experience of the thrill. In the end I finished in 2nd place for my age category.
Day 3 was Slopestyle. The one event I had been working towards. The weather wasn’t great however, but it didn’t stop me from spinning and having fun! After the finals had been called off due to lack of time and bad conditions I headed to the podium to pick up my 1st and 2nd place medals for my category and overall!
The final day had to arrive eventually. I wasn’t going to let that stop me from having fun especially in Halfpipe! To get out of the pipe on a couple of hits including the backside wall was a huge achievement for me but to be placed..... TWICE! Made it a whole lot better. 2nd place in my age category and 3rd overall!!! So all in all a sick week with all of my mates pushing each other on and enjoying being in the mountains again.
